The Church is celebrating the feast of Divine mercy on the second Sunday after Easter and it is also called the New Sunday, or Thomas’s Sunday. The Feast of Divine Mercy is one of the Christ wishes which was clear when he appeared to Saint Vostina in 1931 and asked her to establish and celebrate this feast. It was recognized by the Pope John Paul II on 5 May 2000 as an official feast of the Church.
Here are the words of the Lord Jesus to Saint Vostina about the Divine Mercy:
“I do not want to punish sick people, but I want to heal them to my compassionate heart”.
– Tell the whole world that day about the greatness of my mercy. Anyone who approaches the spring of life on that day will receive complete remission.
-I want Mercy’s feast to become a refuge and protection for all souls, especially the souls of poor sinners. On that day the depths of my compassionate mercy will explode. The self that recognizes and deals with the Eucharist will receive forgiveness for sins. On that day all the divine doors from which Grace will flow will be opened. The soul should not be afraid to approach me even if her sins are purple.My mercy is greater than any human or angelic mind can ever perceive.
– This is the new Sunday of the Day of Divine Mercy, this Mercy that does not stop the new creation.
